Stewardship

St Joseph's School embraces an ecological vision for Catholic Schools within the following definition:

'Ecological Education is a lifelong process of recognising values and clarifying concepts in order to develop skills and attitudes necessary to understand and appreciate the inter-relatedness of all creation; to know of creation as a gift from God which requires equitable sharing and wise stewardship.  It also entails practice in decision making for living a life that is ecologically and ethically sustainable.' Through the curriculum children are a part of the various programs at the school including:

  • a vegetable garden project
  • reflective garden project
  • composting
  • waste management/recycling program
  • nude food initiatives to reduce waste
  • capturing and re-using rain water
